Sick Leave with Pay.

Sick leave with pay, accumulation at a rate of one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Employees are not entitled to accrue paid sick leave for hours paid while not working (such as vacation, paid holidays, or while using paid sick leave). Employees are entitled to use their accrued, unused paid sick leave beginning on the 90th calendar day after the start of their employment. After this 90-day period, The Arc shall make accrued paid sick leave available to employees for use within one month after the date of accrual.

Employees may use their accrued, unused paid sick leave hours to care for themselves or a family member for:
•    Mental or physical illnesses, injuries, or health conditions;
•    The need for medical diagnosis, care, or treatment of mental or physical illnesses, injuries, or health conditions; or the need for preventive medical care.

Employees must provide reasonable notice of an absence from work for the use of paid sick leave to care for themselves or a family member, or because the employee’s child’s school or place of care is closed by order of a public official for any health-related reason.

The complete policy maybe read from the The Arc of the Peninsulas Personnel Policy and Procedures Manual - February 1, 2022, page 18.

Vacation Leave Benefit.

After satisfactory completion of the introductory period (six months), Employees who work at least 30 hours weekly on average for the year earn vacation leave based on their length of service. Vacation leave shall be accrued on a monthly basis. No more than 80 hours may be carried over past December 31 to the following calendar year without the written approval of the Chief Executive Officer. Vacation leave for employees must be taken in increments of not less than 4 hours.

Employees are required to give as much notice as possible when requesting Vacation leave. Reasonable consideration will be given in situations where notice cannot be given. Payment in lieu of Vacation Leave is not authorized. The accrual rate is based on the employee’s length of employment and the number of regular hours worked per week. Vacation Leave is not paid on overtime hours. Exceptions to this policy will be made on an individual basis by the Chief Executive Officer. The Chief Executive Officer must review all extended leave requests to assure that program needs will be met.

Employees may not use Vacation Leave if they are on probation for disciplinary reasons, although leave continues to accrue.

The complete policy maybe read from the The Arc of the Peninsulas Personnel Policy and Procedures Manual - February 1, 2022, page 19.
